Is the "stay home, stay healthy" order giving you the blues?
Why not load up the kid's and go for a family road trip?
Nothing is better than that feeling of being out on the open road on an adventure anticipating where your next exciting stop may be! There are so many fun things to do on a road trip! Say goodbye to car boredom, goodbye to the mundane, and goodbye to any squabbles from being stuck at home. With these road trip tips, you can let the good times roll. From my personal experience, below are a few ways to ensure that yours is awesome!

1. No road trip is complete without an ultimate road trip playlist, right? Take it in turns to play DJ to mix it up! If your ears can stand it, belt it out and do a family sing along.

2. Make time to to stop for some family photos. Capturing memories while you are away is great – you can relive all the awesome moments from your trip. It is a great way to reminisce and look back at all the good times you had as a family.

3. Download some podcasts that sound hilarious or interesting to you prior to departing. That way, it can spark some humor or ignite some interesting conversations.
4. Play some road trip games. Some good old-fashioned car games are still pretty fun! Slug bug is still a hit. There are also some cool apps on your phone for interactive games to keep the whole family involved.
5. Need some entertainment? Need a few laughs? Tell each other some jokes!
So buckle that seatbelt, hit the gas, and prepare to have your funny bone tickled with some good old family jokes. He who laughs last… Didn’t get the joke!
6. Listen to an audio book. Not only can reading in the car make you feel carsick, but it is very much a one-person activity. Audiobooks are the perfect way to stay entertained for a while and keep everyone involved!
7. Kids getting bored? Find a rest stop or grassy area to pull over and doing something active to release some energy. Play some sports or do something active at a rest stop. It will wear the kids out and you might get some much needed quiet time in the car.

8. Make an unexpected stop somewhere interesting. You never know what you might see. Don’t plan too much! In my opinion, the best things about a road trip is the spontaneity! Take a detour and see something cool. Don't forget to take a family photo.

9. Make time to pull over and enjoy the sunset. It's the perfect setting for a photo and picnic.

10. Eating out on a road trip can be super expensive if you are on a limited budget. Do yourselves a favor and pack your own food. Not only will this save you money, but you can have an awesome picnic in the setting you want. If you don't want the hassle, try a new restaurant that doesn’t exist in your hometown. If you’re going to eat out, be adventurous about it. New experiences are always fun!

11. I know it's hard to do, but put down your phones so it doesn't distract you from the moment.

12. If you have family that lives in the town you are visiting, do a drive by and say hi! Remember the 6 foot rule!

13. My biggest word of advice.... ACCEPT that things don't always go as planned! No matter how much you plan, how detailed your itinerary is, how well you have packed, you could end up taking a wrong turn and have it turn into a 2-hour detour (everyone gets lost, right?)
You could end up with a flat tire in the middle of nowhere and the list goes on.
Don’t stress too much if something go south. All of my family trips have certainly had their fair share of unfortunate events! I liken our family trips to the movie "National Lampoons Griswold family Vacation" My advice? Don't let it spoil your fun, laugh it off, and remember it is all part of the adventure! I know from experience, that it will be a memory that your family will look back on and remember forever!

Now get out and hit the open road!
With these tips you’re all prepared to have a fun-filled, exciting road trip that won’t be the least bit boring!
Remember, it's all about the experience!
